IVC are pleased to have been selected by the internationally renowned, Millfield independent school, to supply and install a projection and media presentation system in their new sports pavilion.
The school has grown from its foundation in 1935 where 6 of the first 7 students were Indian princes; in 1939 it became the first co-educational independent school in theUK, from which time the student numbers have grown to over 1700 today. The school has gained world recognition in its accomplishment in nurturing sporting, musical and creative talents as well as a long standing reputation for successfully helping students with dyslexia.
The new pavilion is a state-of-the-art facility where pupils, parents and visitors can celebrate all that is good about sport. From the rugby field and tennis courts to the cricket wicket and netball courts, everyone can immerse themselves in the action.
The building is oval in shape with the ground floor housing changing and kit storage facilities for pupils and visitors. The upper floor provides for a large lounge/dining/events area with floor to ceiling panoramic windows providing almost 360 degree perimeter viewing from inside, plus a 360 degree wrap-around balcony.
The open plan steel and glass structure with exposed structural steel beams provided a challenging space in which to add AV facilities; particularly for viewing screen content and acoustics.
With an open space ceiling, the options for concealing new equipment were limited; nevertheless IVC’s procurement, design and installation teams were able to discreetly install the large motorised presentation screen behind one of the horizontal beams, giving the impression that the 3 metre tab tensioned screen seemingly drops from within the structural beam itself.
The Projector uses state of the art technology delivering class leading performance further enhanced with quiet operation and low running costs. The smart appearance and matching white finish ceiling suspension serves up brilliantly clear images at WUXGA resolution. Installed with the Digital Link HDbaseT interface, this ensures the presenter has the ultimate ease of user experience and can intuitively operate all of the system features using nothing more than the projector IR remote control handset.
The AV credenza was supplied with an optional durable powdered coat white finish to match the décor of the room and can be unplugged from the wall plate and rolled into storage when not in use.
Audio distribution speakers with an optimal balance of design and performance were proposed and installed. The speaker styling is in perfect harmony with the building pendent lighting fixtures. The projected sound performance helps to mitigate the reverberation characteristics of the harsh acoustic environment.
On completion, the school were delighted that IVC have been able to meet all the technical and budgetary requirements on time, delivering a discreet and elegant installation, in keeping with the architectural design of the building. The new AV enhancements will improve audience engagement and provide a means to access a wider range of learning tools. Operationally the facilities combine ease of use for both non-technical users in day to day academic usage, with more powerful options for technical and support staff.
